Covenant is the Hebrew word beriyth. This word is defined as a cutting or a compact made by passing between pieces of flesh. When flesh is cut or pierced, there is blood. The blood is a sign that the covenant is sealed declaring the agreement between the two parties to now be a matter of life and death.
The marriage of a man and a woman is a covenant sealed in blood so that they are no longer two but one. In the first physical union of a man and woman not only is there a piercing of flesh, but there is also a shedding of blood as the hymen is broken. The hymen is a thin membrane partially closing the vaginal orifice (opening) of a woman. It may only be broken and cause the shedding of blood once.
See the beauty of the mind of God. He built the power to activate a blood covenant into the anatomy of the human body. He ordained that only upon the initial union of a virgin man and woman, blood would be shed. However, whether with or without the shedding of blood, the scriptures declare that two are made one in the act of intercourse, even with harlots (see 1 Corinthians 6:16). If any man and any woman come together, the two become one.
Surely we see that in no natural way can two of the same gender (male with male nor female with female) make union and cut covenant. They can neither naturally pass through the flesh, nor bring forth the sign of blood.
In considering the truth of the blood shed from the woman, we see that the loss of virginity is no light thing. Only a virgin has the power to consummate a covenant in blood. Let every father see the great responsibility to guard their sons and daughters from the lies that would come their way. By being a godly example, building a godly home and openly rejecting the ways of those that walk in darkness, a father can give his children the best opportunity to be kept until their day of marriage. Let all who are passive concerning the righteousness of his own life and his household know that those that love money are aggressive and don’t care if their next dollar costs the soul of your children.
See the wisdom of God, the Master Builder and Architect. He designed our frame (our human bodies) to be unable to produce children without a man and woman enacting a covenant of blood where the two become one.
Think about this! In this design, He is giving every soul the peace that his/her own very life is proof that the two (parents) are one. He purposed that children’s lives and character would never have to be built on a divided foundation. He intended that every young tender plant would be sown into the one soul of a marriage covenant sealed in blood. The life of the parent’s relationship is the foundation of a child’s being. If the foundation is level and settled, the building may be strong and sturdy, but who has confidence building in an area prone to earthquakes? It is no wonder the ailment in peace and character of this generation. Who could have peace on such troubled foundations? The scripture says that if the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
The cutting of covenant between a man and a woman is most holy before God. We know that we are not our own and are called to glorify God in our body and in our spirit which are God’s (I Cor. 6:20). We are to flee fornication, which is the Greek word pornia meaning sexual activity apart from covenant and is also the root of the word pornography. Flee sexual activity outside of marriage and pornography in all of its forms.
God, our Master Builder, has ordained in His perfect and holy will that a home and marriage be built on a covenant of blood; that the life of two becomes one. He desires a union of life that is never to be separated. As God has spoken, what He has joined together let no man put asunder, or divide (Matthew 19:6). What an unshakable foundation of peace to those that will please God and do His will!
May the government never legalize gay marriages and promote a way where God did not give the two the power to come together, cut covenant and become one. They will never have peace for they can not become one. This way is wicked and those that follow it will not have any rest. Those that have followed these popular lies of differing sexualities may repent of their sin, believe on the Lord Jesus who was judged for our sins and be saved from the judgment to come.
May parents openly show disdain for all that promotes sin and repent of receiving it as “entertainment”. The Scripture says, “Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted”. Those that mourn over sin have a promise of comfort. Those that laugh at it now will mourn and weep (Luke 6). Many “church-going” parents weep now over the decisions of their children, yet they still enjoy the entertainment of those that behave just like the children that they grieve over.
Walk in the light and enjoy the communion of the Holy Spirit of God. Follow the Master Builder’s blueprints and build your house on an unshakable foundation. In doing so, the soul of your marriage will be like fertile soil to your children, enabling them to grow and flourish in peace. No tender plant can grow up to full health and wholeness if the ground is shifting and they are constantly being uprooted and replanted. Psalm 128:3 promises to those that fear the Lord and walk in His ways that their children will be “like olive plants round about thy table” and they will be blessed.
