Couples brought their family, masks, chairs/blankets, coverings, and more! Eye Toe Eye provided food, games and prizes for couples and kids. Because these were challenging times we intentionally gathered together while social distancing, with masks, and other proper COVID conscious protections in place. There was plenty of room outside to enjoy each other’s company while staying safe. So grateful for the community coming together to make the Annual Eye To Eye Family Picnic this past weekend a success. Thank you to Jones Lawn Care, Sisters In Motion, Villages OKC and all the organizations listed that contributed items, time, treasure, or talent which helped keep the atmosphere cool, fun, and safe for all. Last but not least are the gracious Halls for hosting, and THE Greg Jones for coordinating! Rolands, Lasalas, Williams, Veals, Hills, Soluades, Kathy Potts, Florence Smith and more were selfless with their contributions. It would not have been a success without all of you. It all started at 6pm with a meal (but not before every participant received a temperature check, and any PPE equipment needed for the family). Approximately 20 families (more than 70 people) were in attendance. Each family chose one or more of the 22 six foot circles to maintain proper safe physical distancing.
At 7pm Sisters In Motion (And Brothers Too) provided the hula hoop activities that kept the fun meter on high. Human foosball, volleyball, corn hole, horseshoes and bean bag toss were some of the other activities to keep the fun going. At 8pm couples gathered with proper distance to hear a short message from Rodney and Cresha Redus about unity, then the fun continued. The highlight of the evening for the couples was the Adjective Name Game. This fun, interactive couples activity topped off the evening with performances that provided laughs, applause and an occasional “what?!” This fun evening could not have been a success without our sponsors, donors and awesome volunteers. We welcome you to come and join us next Spring when we will keep the fun family picnic tradition going.
